A Christmas Carol

Here’s a Christmas song you won’t hear at the mall. This lovely piece was composed by Alfred D. Cammeyer in the late 19th or early 20th century. (Perhaps by next year I’ll be able to learn the 2nd banjo part and play the 1st part a bit better.)

What Is This?

Long before jazz, old-time, or bluegrass, the banjo was associated with very different musical styles, now largely forgotten.

The music on this site is taken from (or inspired by) period sources from the 1800s through the early 1900s.
